Description
Matching pair of vintage Seri baskets. This set of 2 matching baskets was woven from c1990-1995 and has been put away out of the sun for the past 25-30 years, woven by master Seri weavers. These are stunning examples of Seri baskets. As a note, while the "tray" or dish-shaped basket is as finely woven on the front and back, the "back" side is the "A" side of the basket. Also, note that the bottom of the bowl or vase basket is a squash blossom, multi-pointed star, or a stylized bush or tree from which the basket material is harvested.
This pair of polychrome Seri baskets is a series of diamonds or arrows radiating outward. This is an "eye dazzler" basket. If you look carefully at the bottom of the bowl or the inner set of designs on the tray, you will see that the design is an 8-point squash blossom or star design.
