Description
Rare antique Tohono O'dham or Papago Olla used to cool water in the summer in the shape of a "canteen". Made of porous clay, a small amount of water seeped through to evaporate and cool drinking water. This was purchased in the 1970s on the T.O. Reservation. Hanging on the front porch in disuse the back is worn from rubbing against the wall in the wind.
It is signed "Ramona 5-5-38" We added the period braided rawhide lasso.
